United States captain Ream retires from international football

On Tuesday, United States captain Tim Ream, 38, announced his retirement from international football. Throughout his career, Ream earned 86 caps and secured two CONCACAF Nations League titles. The Charlotte FC defender led the US team at this year's World Cup, which took place on home soil. The team reached the last 16 before being eliminated by Belgium.

In a statement to reporters ahead of a friendly match against Chile in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, Ream expressed his pride in being part of the national team for 16 years, stating, "That's it for me." The US played Chile to a 4-2 victory before facing Mexico in Glendale, Arizona, on Saturday and hosting Canada in St. Paul, Minnesota, on October 6.
