United States launches America.Gov for public services 5 years after Dr. Bawumia launched Ghana’s version Ghana.Gov

The United States government has unveiled America.gov, a unified digital platform aimed at facilitating access to federal government information and services for all Americans, following in the footsteps of Ghana's Ghana.Gov launched by former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia five years prior. Speaking at the platform's introduction in Washington D.C., President Donald J. Trump heralded America.gov as a single point of entry for citizens to access federal information and services online.

This AI-powered portal allows users to inquire in straightforward language, receive accurate responses based on official government sources, and even complete transactions like passport renewal and Medicare enrollment without needing to navigate multiple agency websites. The platform is completely free, ad-free, and currently features a chatbot-style interface.

The administration aims to consolidate information from approximately 29,000 federal websites onto America.gov. President Trump also signed an Executive Order directing all federal agencies to integrate their online services with the new platform. The launch of America.gov parallels Ghana's Ghana.Gov, which the Akufo-Addo government began developing in 2017, encompassing digital initiatives such as the Ghana Card, Digital Address System, Mobile Money Interoperability, Tax Identification Number expansion, and digitization of various operations.

At the time of Ghana.Gov's launch, the platform was recognized as one of the first worldwide to provide access to all government services and payments on one platform, integrating advanced technology like Artificial Intelligence.
