Ukraine seeks tens of thousands of F-16 cannon rounds to shoot down Russian jet drones

Russian forces have seized food packages dropped by Ukrainian forces in the occupied Oleshky, accusing recipients of collaborating with Ukraine, claimed Tetiana Hasanenko, head of the Oleshky City Military Administration. The southeastern Kherson Oblast has been under Russian control since 2022, resulting in escalating insecurity, food and medical supply shortages, and restricted exit options.

The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has documented the worsening situation in Oleshky and nearby Hola Prystan, where Russian forces have also abducted residents, including from the town's boarding institution. Hasanenko stated that this was the largest delivery yet, and some residents received one or more packages, while others received none.

When asked about the source of non-Russian food, they are questioned about its origin, Hasanenko explained. Russian forces shoot down drones delivering provisions and confiscate or resell the food, according to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Oblast Military Administration. He added that Russian forces detain Oleshky residents, take them to a basement, and beat them for accepting humanitarian packages.

Local residents recounted how people have disappeared without explanation, with no information on their whereabouts or fate. Hasanenko reported on 29 September to Ukrinform that people attempting to escape Oleshky via mined paths were losing 10–15 kg of weight due to the hazardous journey. She also mentioned that Russian soldiers entered residents' homes, occupied them, and demanded food and alcohol.
