UAE petrol prices to rise by about 16% in October

UAE petrol prices are set to rise by approximately 16% in October, marking the third consecutive month of increases, as global oil markets continue to experience high prices due to uncertainties surrounding a potential US-Iran truce. Super 98 will see a 15.7% increase, Special 95 will rise by nearly 16%, E-Plus 91 will increase by 16.6%, and diesel prices will climb by 11.6%. These prices are about 80% higher than those in February, prior to the Iran war.

Super 98 will cost Dh4.40 in October, up from Dh3.80 in September. Special 95 will be Dh4.28, from Dh3.69. E-Plus 91 will reach Dh4.21, from Dh3.61. Diesel will be Dh4.80, from Dh4.30.

Fuel prices in the UAE have been linked to the global oil market since 2015 when deregulation was introduced. While petrol prices typically follow global benchmarks, various factors influence monthly costs. Saudi Arabia's increased oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and reduced flows through the Bab Al Mandeb strait have contributed to the current fuel price surge. However, efforts to resolve the conflict between the US and Iran have not yet borne fruit, and fuel prices continue to climb.
