“Two easy goals killed our morale” – Carlos Queiroz reacts after Black Stars’ shocking defeat

Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz expressed his disappointment after his team suffered a shocking defeat to Ghana in the Accra Sports Stadium. The Portuguese trainer attributed the loss to two easy goals conceded by his team in the first half, which significantly altered the course of the game. Ghana had taken a 2-0 lead through Ernest Nuamah’s penalty and Felix Afena-Gyan’s low drive, leading the Black Stars to believe they were on course for a comfortable victory.

However, the Scorpions fought back by scoring from the penalty spot and an equalizer before halftime, leaving the home side stunned and demoralized.

Queiroz stressed that the two goals conceded in the first half destroyed his team’s morale, making them nervous and unable to perform well in the second half. He defended his midfield choices and decision not to start some of the new faces, emphasizing that he has always been open to giving opportunities to young players. Queiroz praised substitutes Ibrahim Sulemana and Augustine Boakye for lifting the team during their time on the field, with both players making significant contributions in the second half.

He also highlighted Boakye's impressive performance, noting that he earned his first Black Stars call-up under Queiroz for the World Cup, and that the young player's performance in the match warranted further recognition.
