TGNPDCL to encourage rooftop solar system installation, provide information on application process

Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL) plans to launch 'Seva Sethu' programs at its division headquarters to promote rooftop solar system installations and clarity on the application process for the PM Surya Ghar–Muft Bijli Yojana. K. Venkata Ramana, TGNPDCL Chief Engineer, Investments Promotion Cell & Regulatory Affairs Cell, announced that officials from TGNPDCL, TGREDCO, and banks will participate in these programs to provide information on the scheme's various aspects, including Central subsidy, bank loans, net metering, and benefits.

During a video conference, Mr. Ramana instructed field officials to facilitate the information sharing. The PM Surya Ghar scheme offers Central Financial Assistance of ₹30,000 for a 1-kW rooftop system, ₹60,000 for a 2-kW system, and up to ₹78,000 for a 3-kW system. A 3-kW system can generate approximately 450 units of electricity per month, aiding in bill reduction and potential surplus power earnings.

To date, 29,621 rooftop solar connections have been registered in TGNPDCL's jurisdiction, equivalent to 97 MW of installed capacity, with another 20,000 applications under processing, potentially adding 60 MW of solar generation capacity. The 'Seva Sethu' initiative will expand to villages and towns to encourage more households to embrace rooftop solar.

Officials from various TGNPDCL divisions, TGREDCO, and banks will convene on a single platform to address consumer inquiries and deliver scheme-related information. Superintending Engineers, Divisional Engineers, and Assistant Divisional Engineers from different circles took part in the meeting.
