Texas A&M OL still has 'a lot of belief' in QB Marcel Reed

Texas A&M's football team is currently struggling, having lost two games in the SEC, with a record of 2-2 overall. Their performance took a sharp turn after a 35-6 defeat to LSU last week, where starting quarterback Marcel Reed struggled, completing only 106 yards and throwing no touchdowns. Reed, who had previously thrown for 3,169 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, appears to have regressed, failing to execute the game plan and make high-percentage passes.

Offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins is being blamed for the team's decline, but receivers seem to have the open opportunities, and Reed's execution is the issue. Texas A&M ranks last in explosive plays of 20 or more yards, which is not surprising considering the difficulty of completing such throws when the easy ones are not being made.

Despite the team's poor performance, junior wide receiver Mario Craver and redshirt sophomore Ashton Bethel-Roman are among the top receiving threats in college football. Coach Mike Elko defended Reed, acknowledging his hard work and high pressure, while offensive lineman Wilkin Formby also expressed belief in Reed's ability to improve.

Formby emphasized that the team must give Reed time to perform at a high level, and they must continue to support him through practice and upcoming games, particularly the crucial matchup against Arkansas on Saturday.
