The Minister of Road Transport, Alexander Nanta Linggi, emphasized the importance of more time being given to relevant parties to finalize the details of the various lane toll-free collection (MLFF) system. The system will be implemented using a business-to-business (B2B) model in collaboration with toll concessionaires and interested parties to develop the relevant infrastructure.

This approach allows stakeholders to discuss among themselves, particularly toll concessionaires who possess roads and related assets. The ministry has provided them with a timeline, and they only need a little more time, with platforms already conceptualized. The ministry does not rush this process, and the time is used to ensure parties interested in collaborating are considered, according to Bernama after the MyAsean Technology and Transport Expo 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.

The toll authorities also play a crucial role in facilitating discussions between toll concessionaires and interested parties for facilitating the collaboration. According to Azman Ibrahim, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Road Transport, the MLFF system might only be implemented by 2027. Under the MLFF system, all exit and entry lanes of the highway will be converted into a free-flowing lane to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow.

This system is part of the Master Plan for ITS Malaysia (2019-2023) to modernize the country's highway infrastructure.
