Imigresen Melaka authorities have detained a 50-year-old local woman suspected of posing as a senior immigration officer and orchestrating work permit applications for foreign nationals seeking legal work permits in Malaysia. Anirwan Fauzee Mohd Aini, the Deputy Director of Melaka Immigration, revealed that the suspect was apprehended during a raid at a cafe in Taman Malim Jaya, approximately 6 pm last night.

During the operation, several items were seized, including black uniforms with accessories, badges of senior immigration officers, collar tabs, integrity badges, two blue scarves, two black T-shirts with the immigration department logo, and a falsified immigration department ID card. The suspect was also overheard discussing work permit applications with a Chinese national and multiple Malaysian victims who claim to have paid around RM6,000 for work permits.

They offered to assist foreign nationals in obtaining work permits without an employer or foreign involvement. The suspect claimed to have been operating this scheme for one to two years through solo operations, approaching employers or foreign nationals desperate for work permits. The suspect's mother was seen in a social media post posing in full immigration uniform to convince potential employers that the suspect was an employee.

Anirwan Fauzee Fauzee stated that the suspect is currently being held for four days to assist the investigation under Section 56(1)(k) and Section 56(1)(l) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 due to his attempts to obtain false or forged documents. The Immigration department has also issued a fine to the suspect's wife and the suspect for aiding the investigation further.

The public is advised to remain vigilant and avoid dealing with unofficial immigration services, instead using the nearest Immigration department office for assistance.
