‘Such a Dream Come True’: Hailee Steinfeld Talks New Disney Project ‘Hexed’

Hailee Steinfeld, an acclaimed actress and singer, is relishing the reality of her flourishing career. Steinfeld has made a mark with her role in Ryan Coogler’s 2025 vampire film, Sinners, which garnered 16 Academy Award nominations and ultimately won four Oscars. Additionally, she gave birth to a daughter, Harper Haize, in April, almost a year after her marriage to NFL player Josh Allen.

The couple's success continues as the Bills began the regular season with a perfect 3-0 record. Steinfeld spoke on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon about her upcoming Disney project, Hexed, in which she voices the lead character, Billie Doe. Describing Hexed as "such a dream come true," Steinfeld explained that she completed the project during her pregnancy and right after her baby was born.

In the film, Billie is a rebellious, unconventional teen who discovers she possesses magical powers, a coming-of-age story about self-discovery and using her abilities for good. Steinfeld praised director Coogler, shared her experience during Sinners’ night shoots, and revealed that she missed the Academy Awards but watched the ceremony from home with her new baby.

When asked about rumors of a possible return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe via the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, Steinfeld remained tight-lipped, stating, "Time will tell." Steinfeld previously appeared in Marvel’s Hawkeye on Disney+ and as Spider-Gwen in MCU films Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

As a young actress, she gained recognition for her roles in Coen Brothers’ True Grit and for her singing career, releasing five Billboard Hot 100 singles following the success of her debut track "Love Myself" in 2015.
