‘Stree 3’: Dinesh Vijan reveals release date for Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor film

Fans of the Stree franchise will have to wait until 2028 for the release of Stree 3, according to producer Dinesh Vijan. Speaking at FICCI Frames 2026, Vijan revealed that the third chapter in the horror-comedy series will be delayed from its original August 13, 2027 release date. Director Amar Kaushik will first focus on completing Mahavatar, a film based on the story of Bhagwan Parshuram, which is expected to begin shooting in January and conclude by June.

After that, work on Stree 3 will commence. Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor are set to reprise their roles from the first two films, with Pankaj Tripathi also confirmed for the third installment. Vijan teased that the screenplay for Stree 3 is already completed, urging fans not to assume they know the direction of the storyline.

The film will maintain the beloved elements of the franchise, but its beginning and ending will be "a complete revelation." Stree 3 will join the interconnected horror-comedy universe created by Maddock Films, which began with Stree in 2018 and continued with Stree 2 in 2024. Akshay Kumar, whose character was introduced in Stree 2, is anticipated to return, possibly with a larger role given the expanding universe.
