Russia is wearing down Kyiv’s air defenses with near-daily drone attacks. Now the strikes continue into daylight.

Russia has shifted its tactics when launching drone attacks on Kyiv, employing jet-powered drones that are faster and more difficult to intercept. These strikes have become more frequent, occurring both at night and throughout the day, as Russia seeks to weaken Kyiv's air defenses and disrupt daily life. In late August, Kyiv faced continuous attacks for five days, with the intensity spiking again over the past week.

Between September 22 and 28, Russian drone strikes killed 13 residents in the city and injured over 160 people, marking the first time civilians were casualties in such numbers since Russia's full-scale invasion began. Many of these attacks occurred during daylight hours, causing significant damage to buildings and infrastructure.

Despite some respite, the attacks continued into September, with civilian casualties on 16 of the first 24 days.
