Championship leader Antonelli holds a 66-point lead over Russell following a 20-point drop at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, a weekend Antonelli described as his "worst of the season." The Italian, with eight wins this year and aspirations to become Malaysia's first F1 champion, started 16th after a qualifying mishap but recovered to finish fifth.

Antonelli acknowledges a dip in form at Baku, attributing it to a lack of confidence, but he remains determined to regain his usual level. "By Antonelli's admission, it was not the version of himself we have seen for most of the year and after the 20-year-old struggled to find his usual rhythm in Baku," the report reads. "I will make sure I re-establish the order, just make sure that I will be back at my usual level because (in Baku) I was driving more like my grandma," he said.

In contrast, Russell, who became the seventh driver to achieve a Grand Slam at the summer break, enters the race with newfound momentum and confidence. With Lewis Hamilton trailing by 103 points, the title fight is now a direct duel between the two Mercedes drivers. However, the outcome remains uncertain as the season progresses, and the final rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi face potential cancellation due to the ongoing regional conflict.
