Pledge signed by President Trump and top AI leaders misspells the United States

President Donald Trump and leading AI experts signed a pledge on Tuesday, dubbed the "Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities." The voluntary agreement aims to impose additional safety measures and controls as AI technology continues to advance rapidly. However, a glaring typo in a photo of the signed agreement caught the eye of Gizmodo reporter Matt Novak.

The misspelling reads "Unites States," appearing right beneath President Trump's signature. Other signatories, including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Nvidia's Jensen Huang, and Anthropic's Dario Amodei, and their respective companies were accurately spelled. The pledge's announcement came after discussions among top AI leaders at the White House, following calls for a slowdown in AI advancements from OpenAI's Sam Altman, Amodei, and even Elon Musk.

President Trump, however, rejected these suggestions, emphasizing that the nation should remain the most advanced in AI technology. The document, which outlines how companies should ensure their frontier models behave as intended and promptly address any issues, is voluntary with no legal or regulatory consequences for non-compliance.

At a press conference following the gathering, Zuckerberg called the accord "a start" and "a historic conversation," while the President mandated federal agencies change their language from "artificial intelligence" to "superintelligence" or "SI."
