Pflegereform: Koalition bringt Pflegereform ins Kabinett

Berlin. The planned nursing reform proposed by Federal Health Minister Carsten Linnemann (CDU) is getting closer. The federal government intends to discuss the bill today after a prolonged struggle between the Union and the SPD. The cabinet will examine the draft bill from the Ministry of Health aimed at restructuring the care insurance, the Bundespresseamt announced at 10.10 AM in Berlin.

For a long time, it was unclear whether Union and SPD had reached an agreement during lengthy negotiations that allowed the reform to be discussed in the ministerial round. The exact scope of the agreement was initially open. Linnemann intends to achieve savings in several areas due to a budget deficit threat for statutory care insurance this year.

After announcing his draft to bring into the cabinet this Wednesday, the SPD threatened a blockade. They rejected a "pure cut package". The negotiations dragged on until Wednesday morning. Linnemann joined the cabinet session somewhat late, according to a dpa reporter. The plan is primarily to prevent rising contributions. The contribution rate stands at 3.6 percent after an increase last year, at 4.2 percent for childless people.
