Parliamentary Sports Committee to invite GFA over Black Stars’ recent performance

Isaac Boamah-Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Effia, has called for the dismantling of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in the wake of Ghana's shocking 4-2 defeat to Gambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. This loss marks a second consecutive setback for Ghana, following a 2-0 opening defeat to Côte d'Ivoire in Bouaké.

Boamah-Nyarko holds the current administration responsible for the decline of Ghanaian football, urging a complete overhaul of the structure to restore the national team's competitiveness. He insists that the GFA, the ministry of Youth and Sports, and the entire football administration must be dismantled and rebuilt, regardless of potential repercussions.

Boamah-Nyarko emphasizes the importance of restoring the football pipeline from grassroots to national levels, highlighting the need for strong developmental structures to cultivate young talent across the country. The defeat has ignited public outrage, especially after Ghana surrendered an early lead, allowing Gambia to equalize and eventually win. The Black Stars now aim to recover their campaign with a match against Somalia in November.
