OpenAI launches ChatGPT Spaces to help humans and agents work together

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Spaces, a new interface aimed at facilitating human-AI collaboration. Spaces replaces the Library tab for Pro, Business, and Enterprise users across multiple platforms. This new environment brings together documents, colleagues, generative AI, and agentic AI in one place.

Spaces integrates Live Pages, a fresh document type that AI can automatically keep updated. Unlike traditional ChatGPT-generated documents, Live Pages allow for real-time collaboration with apps like Slack, emails, and calendars. The introduction of Spaces aims to streamline document access, combining AI, humans, and documents in a unified space.

The company has also rolled out Pages - new documents that merge text, images, charts, and other interactive tools. These Pages auto-update as connections with external applications change data. For instance, users can interact with their own ChatGPT and Dots, OpenAI's always-on generative AI tool, to make changes or keep things current.

Moreover, OpenAI is developing a meeting plugin, currently available in beta for Pro and Business users through the desktop app. This plugin creates personalized notes and suggests follow-ups within the shared Space, making it accessible to colleagues. While OpenAI has not set out to replace Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, Spaces signifies a significant shift in how workers interact with documents, integrating humans, AI, and documents under one roof.
