Ocon to leave Haas at the end of the season

French Formula One driver Esteban Ocon announced on Wednesday that his career with the Haas team will conclude at the end of the 2026 season. Despite the news, Ocon made it clear that his Formula One journey is far from over. Currently holding the 16th position in the championship, Ocon trails his British teammate Oliver Bearman by 13 points.

Joining Haas from Alpine in 2025, the 30-year-old Frenchman has expressed pride in his performances during what were challenging circumstances beyond his control. In a social media post, Ocon stated, "My time with Haas F1 Team will come to an end at the end of the 2026 season. I leave this project with my head held high and proud of my performances in what were not always the easiest circumstances for various reasons and factors outside of my control."

He emphasized that he is still motivated and hungry, expressing that his Formula One career is far from ending. Haas confirmed Ocon's departure in a separate statement, acknowledging his contributions to the team. Several candidates are being considered to replace him, with Rafael Camara, a Brazilian driver backed by Ferrari, being one of the favorites.

Haas, who utilizes Ferrari engines and maintains technical ties with Toyota, has other potential drivers in mind, including Rafael Camara. Ocon, who secured a victory with Renault-owned Alpine in Hungary in 2021, may explore opportunities as a test and reserve driver, having done so for Mercedes in 2019 after leaving Force India (now Aston Martin). The next race on the calendar is the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, taking place this weekend.
