NPP Vice Chair race: I may be the youngest, but most experienced – Nana B

Henry Nana Boakye, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Vice-Chairperson hopeful, insists his youth should not be misconstrued as a lack of experience as he campaigns for the Vice-Chairperson position. At 26 years old, Boakye has been with the NPP for nearly three decades, holding various positions across all levels of the organization. Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Boakye highlighted his journey began at 19 when he served as a polling agent during Ghana's 2000 general election.

Boakye has served the party at every level, including polling station, electoral area, constituency, regional and national structures, mentioning his tenure as polling station chairman, electoral area chairman, constituency communications officer, and regional level involvement. He also detailed his role in founding Tertiary Students’ Confederacy Network (TESCON) as its first president at the School of Mines, now University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in Tarkwa, and later serving as TESCON president during his time at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Boakye's experience with the NPP includes contributions to national youth programs under Sammy Awuku's leadership, serving on the party's National Steering Committee, and acting as National Communications Officer. This broad experience, according to Boakye, provides him with insight into the NPP's successes and challenges. He emphasizes his long-term relationship with the party, stating that his extensive tenure has given him a comprehensive understanding of the party's workings, from its rise to its setbacks.

The NPP will elect its national executives, including the Vice-Chairperson, on October 3, 2026, with 13 candidates vying for the position. Boakye aims to transition from his current role as National Organiser to the Vice-Chairperson role in the party's new leadership structure. Other candidates include Mustapha Hamid, Kojo Bamba, Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah, Richard Ahiagbah, Masawood Mohammed, Oti Aboagye, Abena Pokuaah Amoah Boaitey, Obaa Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, Horma Akesie Miezah, Sam Pyne, Nana Akomea, and Bright Essilfie.
