NIPSS reschedules economy summit to December

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies has moved its National Summit and Exhibition on the Orange Economy from October to December 2026. Originally slated for October 6 to 8 at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos, the summit will now be held from December 8 to 10 at the Admiralty Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Organisers say the shift allows for more time to refine the programme, boost stakeholder involvement and boost the overall influence and objectives of the gathering. The Orange Economy, which covers industries like film, music, fashion, publishing and advertising, has become a key part of Nigeria's plan to diversify the economy and create jobs.

Government efforts to improve funding, skills training, infrastructure and investment in the sector have been met with challenges such as limited access to capital, piracy, poor infrastructure and insufficient sectoral data. The NIPSS summit aims to bring together policymakers, investors, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, development partners and other stakeholders to explore how the creative and cultural sectors can contribute more to economic diversification, job creation, innovation, investment and sustainable development.
