Nigeria @66: Akpabio hails founding fathers, fallen heroes

Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, has paid tribute to Nigeria's founding fathers and fallen heroes in a goodwill message marking the country's 66th Independence Anniversary. Akpabio acknowledged the courage, labor, and sacrifices of those who built and defended the nation, urging Nigerians to sustain values of love, unity, and patriotism.

He recalled that the national flag rose 66 years ago to proclaim the birth of an independent Nigeria, with hopes of freedom, self-government, and shaping one's own destiny. The Senate President honored the Armed Forces and security agencies who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend the country, emphasizing the solemn meaning of their service to the nation's freedom and unity.

Akpabio also praised Nigeria's resilience throughout its 66-year journey, noting the triumphs and trials faced by the nation.
