Nakilat adds latest LPG/Ammonia vessel to its fleet

Doha, Qatar - Qatar Gas Transport Company Limited, known as Nakilat, recently honored the naming of its newest LPG/Ammonia carrier at the HD Hyundai Samho shipyard in Yeongam, Republic of Korea. The vessel, named "Energy North," is scheduled to commence service on October 2, 2026. This marks the beginning of Nakilat's initiative to construct six new vessels at the shipyard, including two LNG carriers and four LPG/ammonia carriers.

This investment underscores Nakilat's dedication to expanding its operational capacity and fulfilling the escalating demand for energy transport services worldwide.

Nakilat's CEO, Abdullah Al Sulaiti, remarked on the significance of this milestone, stating that it signifies a crucial step in their journey and underscores their dedication to creating a modern, diversified fleet that can effectively serve the global energy transportation industry. He also emphasized the partnership with HD Hyundai Samho and the commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth.

"Energy North," with a cargo capacity of 88,000 cubic meters, is designed to transport LPG and ammonia securely and efficiently. It is equipped with advanced dual-fuel propulsion and emission-reduction technologies, enhancing fuel efficiency, operational flexibility, and environmental performance. This ammonia-ready design positions the vessel as a crucial asset in the developing global low-carbon energy supply chains.
