Man Utd do not deserve Man City titles – Rooney

Wayne Rooney, the former Manchester United player, believes his club does not deserve to be awarded Premier League titles if rivals Manchester City are stripped of them due to financial rule breaches. Manchester City has been found guilty of 115 charges by the Premier League, related to their activities from 2009-10 to 2017-18, and their failure to cooperate with investigations between December 2018 and February 2023.

The sanctions have not been announced yet, but they may include the club losing its top-flight titles. Manchester City won the Premier League eight times since Sheikh Mansour's takeover in 2009, with three of those victories occurring during the period when they were accused of financial rule violations. Rooney, who was part of the United side that finished second to City in the 2011-2012 season, stated on the Stick to United podcast that he wouldn't feel comfortable accepting another Premier League medal.

He expressed his belief that United didn't do enough that season to win the league and suggested that if Manchester City were to have their titles stripped, he wouldn't want his team's medals taken away either. He emphasized that if United had been doing the same, they wouldn't have deserved the title that year.
