Man Utd do not deserve Man City titles – Rooney

Wayne Rooney has expressed his disapproval for Manchester City being awarded Premier League titles if they are stripped of them for violating financial rules. City has been found guilty of 115 charges related to their financial conduct between 2009-10 and 2017-18, with further accusations of inadequate cooperation with investigations from December 2018 to February 2023.

Sanctions have not been announced yet, and City plans to appeal the decision. Rooney, who previously played for Manchester United, stated on the Stick to United podcast that he wouldn't feel comfortable accepting another Premier League medal if it were to be taken away due to City's violations. He believes his team didn't deserve the 2011-12 title they lost to City and feels the same about the current situation.

Rooney also believes City should be relegated, adding that he'd prefer them to be relegated to the lowest league and face restrictions on spending for several seasons. Former Tottenham and Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino echoed similar sentiments, calling the period a "period of deception" and questioning the controls in place during that time.
