Malaysia denounces Israeli settler raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque, urges UN action

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 — Malaysia vehemently denounced the recent invasion by over 1,000 Israeli settlers and high-ranking officials into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem, which took place on Sept 28 under the supervision of Israel's national security minister and regime forces. The Foreign Ministry, or Wisma Putra, affirmed in a report on Wednesday that these repeated intrusions are a grave breach of international law and contravene the established status quo concerning East Jerusalem and Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

"These actions are not mere provocations, but rather part of the ongoing Zionist regime's attempts to change the essence and character of Al-Aqsa Mosque and East Jerusalem," the ministry emphasized. Malaysia unequivocally opposes such actions, stressing the importance of preserving the sanctity of Al-Haram Al-Sharif and the religious liberties of Muslim worshippers.

The nation called upon the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to promptly and decisively address the Israeli regime's persistent disregard for the historical and legal framework at Al-Haram Al-Sharif, holding them accountable for their continuous efforts to undermine the status quo. Malaysia also reaffirmed its steadfast support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and its long-standing backing for the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital.
