Police Chief of Melaka's Central Region, Halim Abas, revealed a 36-year-old male suspect was found positive for cannabis and had a prior record of sexual offenses against children under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017. The incident unfolded in Taman Ayer Molek, Melaka, over seven nights. On the first night around 8 PM, the suspect, in a daze, sneaked into a car in a parking lot at Taman Ayer Molek.

The startled father demanded his 10-year-old son exit the vehicle, then pulled the suspect out of the car. The father then called emergency services, and police arrived. On the second night, a couple, along with their 2-year-old daughter, encountered the suspect in a corner of Taman Ayer Molek. The suspect allegedly tried to steal the wife's husband's phone before grabbing the child.

The husband tried to retrieve his daughter, resulting in a scuffle with the suspect, who suffered a head injury. He was subsequently detained by Melaka Central Police Force at 8:20 PM. The suspect was taken to Balai Polis Tiang Dua, where tests confirmed his positive THC or cannabis levels. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had previously attacked a martial arts teacher with a glass bottle, causing facial and head injuries in Kampung Ayer Molek.

The child, also a witness, heard her father's cries from the family home around 7:30 PM. The husband, along with other family members, found his father bleeding profusely, both face and head, from the prayer room. He called for neighborhood help, but the suspect fled via the back of the house. Police found the motorbike believed to be the suspect's at the front of the victim's home, indicating he was struck with a glass bottle before being taken to the hospital for treatment.

Halim Abas mentioned the suspect was remanded for seven days to aid investigations under Sections 12(3) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017, Section 324 and Section 377D of the Penal Code. Previously, Melaka High Court Deputy Registrar Nurul Asyikin Rosli issued a remand order at Melaka Hospital due to the suspect's injuries.
