Malaysia's Central Melaka Police Station Head Halim Abas stated that the suspect tested positive for cannabis and had a prior record of a sexual offense under Section 14(a) of the Prevention of Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (POSA 2017). The 36-year-old suspect was also implicated in two separate incidents in Taman Ayer Molek, Melaka, on the night of the previous day.

During the first incident around 8 PM, the suspect, in a dazed state, crept into a car of a passerby at a parking lot in the Taman Ayer Molek area. The passerby, shocked, asked his 10-year-old son to get out of the car, only for the suspect to then pull the man out of the vehicle. According to Halim, the man became aggressive and refused to move.

During the second incident, a couple with their 2-year-old daughter also encountered the suspect at a junction in Taman Ayer Molek. The suspect allegedly tried to snatch the wife's phone before grabbing their daughter. The husband tried to retrieve his daughter, leading to a scuffle with the suspect before civilians came to help restrain him until police arrived at the scene.

The suspect was taken to Tiang Dua Police Station and tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) or cannabis. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had previously assaulted a martial arts teacher with a glass bottle, resulting in injuries to his face and head in Kampung Ayer Molek. The victim's 2-year-old daughter, who is also the wife's daughter, heard her father's cries around 7:30 PM.

The husband, along with family members, found their father, aged 62, being dragged out of a prayer room in a pool of blood with injuries to his face and head by the suspect. The couple pleaded for civilian help, but the suspect fled through the back of the house. Police believe the motorcycle owned by the suspect was found in front of the victim's home, which was also hit with a glass bottle before being taken to the hospital for treatment.

Halim stated that the suspect was detained for seven days to assist with investigations under Section 12(3) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 14(a) of POSA 2017, Section 324, and Section 377D of the Penal Code. The case was further assigned to Senior Assistant Public Prosecutor Nurul Asyikin Rosli at Melaka High Court's Remand Wing due to the injuries.
