‘Launching an app shouldn’t mean learning how to host’: GoDaddy has launched Node.js hosting

GoDaddy, the leading domain registrar, has introduced Node.js hosting to simplify the process of building, launching, and managing web applications. The service aims to alleviate the technical challenges that often accompany deploying web apps, such as handling hosting, security, domains, and other setup tasks. With Node.js hosting, developers and businesses can focus on creating their apps without worrying about the complexities of deployment.

To use the service, users can upload a zip file of their app or connect a GitHub repository containing the source code. Once uploaded, they can preview their app, and when they're ready to publish, they simply connect their domain. GoDaddy's Node.js hosting takes care of the rest, including setting up HTTPS, Content Delivery Network (CDN), firewalls, and MySQL databases.

As part of the Node.js hosting offering, GoDaddy provides users with a dedicated API, which enables developers and AI coding tools to programmatically control the app lifecycle. This includes creating, publishing, uploading source code, managing environment secrets, and reading build and application logs. Bhala Dalvi, GoDaddy's CTO for products and AI, emphasized that getting an app working shouldn't require learning how to host it.

The Node.js hosting service is now available, and GoDaddy claims it will help users manage and deploy code via the API without the need for a dashboard. Additionally, the service supports background jobs, in-memory data, and open connections, making it easier for developers to create scalable and efficient applications. Users can also upload code directly or connect their GitHub repositories, automate HTTPS, CDN, firewall, and MySQL setup, and manage costs with flat-rate pricing.
