Anyone can start building verified knowledge with Stack Internal

Stack Internal is a platform that helps users and AI agents build trustworthy, context-aware knowledge. It leverages the same curated mechanism that Stack Overflow has been using for nearly two decades, but enhances it for an AI-first world. With Stack Internal, organizations can ensure their knowledge is always up-to-date and improving, making it easy for the next team member or AI agent to access verified knowledge.

Today, Stack Internal is in general availability, allowing anyone to create and share knowledge in a free workspace. The platform offers a variety of ways to utilize its community knowledge, including chat, API, and MCP (Message Control Protocol). In July, Stack Internal was first introduced to existing customers, expanding the ways they could leverage their community knowledge.

Starting September 30, anyone can create a free Starter workspace, while organizations have access to new features for integrating their own systems and managing knowledge usage.

To get started with Stack Internal, users can create a free Starter workspace, connecting to their top three data sources, capturing and storing verified knowledge, and collaborating with a few teammates. This platform transforms daily work into living memory, with integrations for Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Google Docs, securely capturing learnings from these sources.

Stack Internal evaluates knowledge based on provenance, recency, expertise, corroboration, and human validation. For AI agents, these signals translate into a trust score, ensuring they pull the best answers. The system also flags conflicting information at response time and detects Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) based on topics. When a knowledge gap is identified, users and AI agents can trigger an SME validation workflow, notifying the appropriate expert directly in Slack.

With the new MCP Server, trusted knowledge can be pushed into various tools and agents, ensuring the information is grounded in verified organizational knowledge. To maintain robust governance, Stack Internal introduces custom roles and permissions, allowing administrators to appoint knowledge managers and reporting analysts while managing access to audit logs and content deletion.

The platform also includes full activity tracking, self-serve exportable audit trails, and a knowledge health and usage dashboard for monitoring metrics like the helpful answer rate and daily active users.

Moving forward, Stack Internal aims to create a knowledge flywheel, where the knowledge people learn while working is accessible to the entire organization. Engineers working in their IDE should be able to find fixes for problems that don't yet exist in the knowledge layer, preserving the evidence behind it and deciding who can use it.

The platform will also introduce scopes to manage contextual boundaries, allowing intentional sharing of knowledge with specific teams or individuals. As Stack Internal evolves, it will make aging knowledge and conflicting sources easier to spot, involve the right experts, and surface relevant information before it's needed.
