Laporta reveals why Lautaro Martinez move fell through, rules out Fabregas’ Barcelona return

During an interview with Corriere della Sera, Laporta detailed how he directly spoke with Beppe Marotta, Inter's President, about the possible move. He stated, "I'll tell you what happened.

One day I called Marotta. He and I, no intermediaries. I told him I would have loved to have Lautaro on my team because I admire the guy so much." However, Laporta revealed that Marotta interrupted him immediately, making it clear that Lautaro was not for sale and that the decision was his alone to make. Consequently, the conversation ended there, and no further action was taken.

Regarding Cesc Fabregas' potential return to Barcelona as a coach, Laporta expressed admiration for the former Barcelona player, acknowledging his understanding of the club's philosophy. However, he firmly stated, "No, we are happy with our coach. We love him, and he's giving us great satisfaction."
