Jets WR Garrett Wilson is thriving in deep-ball situations

The New York Jets relied on wide receiver Garrett Wilson to regain his form after an injury-plagued 2025 season. As of Week 4, Wilson has delivered exactly that, excelling in both short and deep routes. Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades receivers on their performance in various routes, and Wilson has emerged as the highest-graded wideout on deep passes through Week 4, earning a near-flawless score of 98.2.

Through three weeks, Wilson has amassed 21 receptions for 243 yards and two touchdowns. His standout performance came in Week 3 when he dominated the Detroit Lions, recording a game-high 107 yards and a touchdown on 13 targets. According to PFF, Wilson connected on all three of his deep targets (20+ yards) in that game, amassing 77 receiving yards and another touchdown.

Wilson has consistently targeted deep, averaging a depth of 25.7 yards in those attempts. His quarterback, Geno Smith, has been equally impressive, achieving a perfect passer rating of 158.3 when targeting Wilson in deep situations. Wilson's chemistry with Smith has been instrumental in the Jets' competitive play, with their only losses so far being one-score games in Weeks 2 and 3.

The Jets' emphasis on targeting Wilson in deep attempts has clearly paid dividends, boosting their chances of victory.
