iOS 27.2 adds new Messages feature that’s already a favorite

The upcoming iOS 27.2 update will introduce a Messages feature called Suggestions, which was previously included in the iOS 27 beta but later removed. Throughout the iOS 27 beta this summer, Suggestions proved to be one of the user's favorite AI features in Messages, offering one-tap suggestions based on the context of conversations to help users with tasks like creating reminders or notes.

For example, if someone asks for photos, Suggestions can help users find the right ones by recognizing keywords, locations, and people in their library. Suggestions appear as small action buttons beneath relevant messages. When someone asks for help with something, a suggestion might be to add it to Reminders or Notes, or if an event is mentioned, Suggestions can add it directly to the user's calendar.

In the iOS 27 beta, Suggestions performed well, but Apple delayed the feature to a future software update. However, in the iOS 27.2 beta, Suggestions have returned. One possible reason for their removal was that they sometimes appeared in messages where they didn't make sense. For instance, users might see suggestions to add things to Notes, Reminders, or Calendar even when there was no clear reason for these recommendations.

But in my testing of iOS 27.2 so far, there are fewer Suggestions appearing in Messages conversations, and when they do appear, it's always clear why they're being suggested. It's hoped that the feature will make it to the final release of iOS 27.2 within a few weeks.
