Hyundai Mobis signs $443 million deal to sell lamp unit to France's OPmobility

Hyundai Mobis, South Korea's leading automotive parts manufacturer, has announced a significant agreement to sell its lamp unit to French company OPmobility for a sum of $443 million. This transaction occurred following Hyundai Mobis' April spin-off. As part of the deal, Hyundai Mobis will transfer its full ownership of the lamp division to OPmobility, in an effort to establish a stable growth foundation and better navigate the rapidly changing mobility landscape.

This decision marks a pivotal moment for Hyundai Mobis to evolve into a provider of future mobility solutions, ultimately enhancing its corporate and shareholder value. The company's lamp business operates through five plants in Korea, China, Mexico, and the Czech Republic, with total sales amounting to 2.5 trillion won last year, as reported by OPmobility.

OPmobility anticipates that the acquisition will enhance its lamp business, thereby bolstering its competitiveness in the swiftly evolving mobility industry. The French firm aims to finalize the acquisition in the second half of 2027, contingent upon obtaining antitrust and regulatory approvals.
