Flying this weekend? Malaysia Airlines urges KLIA passengers to arrive early amid Sepang F1 traffic

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 — According to Malaysia Airlines, travelers flying from KL International Airport (KLIA) during Oct 2-4, 2026 should allot extra time for travel to the airport because of anticipated traffic congestion at the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix held at the Sepang International Circuit. The airline stated that while KLIA remains accessible, passengers should keep an eye on the latest traffic and road closure updates from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and alter routes as necessary.

Malaysia Airlines also encourages passengers to utilize the KLIA Ekspres service in reaching the airport. The carrier advises passengers to arrive at least three hours before international flights and two hours before domestic flights to allow for a smooth process. Malaysia Airlines clarified that check-in counters close 60 minutes before scheduled departure for both domestic and international flights, noting this in a post on X.
