Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown set to appear in Miami court for expected plea agreement

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is set to enter a Miami courtroom on Wednesday to accept a plea deal that could spare him from prison on a reduced charge in an attempted murder case, according to his attorney Mark Eiglarsh. Eiglarsh told the Associated Press that Brown will plead no contest to aggravated assault and face probation, with his record sealed, meaning he won't be considered a convicted felon.

This plea agreement is seen as a major win for Brown, who could have faced up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the original charge. The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office will clarify the details at the hearing. Brown is accused of firing two shots at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, a man he was involved in a physical altercation with at a celebrity boxing match in Miami on May 16, 2025.

Nantambu's attorney, Richard Cooper, called the plea deal fair and said Nantambu forgives Brown and wouldn't cooperate with law enforcement. Brown, 38, had a successful 12-year NFL career, winning a Super Bowl with Tom Brady in 2021 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent the last two seasons of his career in Tampa Bay before being released in 2021.

Brown has a history of legal issues, including battery charges, domestic violence allegations, failure to pay child support, and other incidents. He was extradited from Dubai in November 2025, where he had business interests, after an arrest warrant for the attempted murder charge was issued in June of that year.
