Economy, Trade and Industry Committee of Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council holds meeting

Doha, Qatar - Chairs of the Economy, Trade and Industry Committee under the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council met via videoconference. The meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Qatar's Minister of Commerce and Industry, and H.E. Faisal bin Fadel Al Ibrahim, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Economy and Planning. Other officials from both nations also attended.

The participants discussed strengthening economic, trade and industrial ties between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. They assessed progress in joint initiatives and projects serving their shared interests.

Bilateral trade reached approximately $1.98 billion in 2025, a 36% increase from the previous year. In the first quarter of 2026, trade grew 18%, above the 15% target. Qatari exports to Saudi Arabia surpassed $1.42 billion, with over 977 Saudi companies operating in Qatar's market.

The sides discussed priority areas like easing import/export procedures, boosting bilateral trade, empowering the private sector and SMEs, and joint efforts in consumer protection and business establishment. They also addressed supply chain integration, financial cooperation and joint credit solutions.

The meeting marked preparations to launch a Joint Economic and Trade Strategy. This strategy will outline priorities, initiatives and measurable targets for the next phase.
