Blackwall jumps 368% to become Estonia’s newest unicorn

Cybersecurity firm Blackwall has surged 368% in valuation to reach €1.03 billion, cementing its position as Estonia's newest unicorn and the fifth most valuable tech company in the country. Blackwall's GateKeeper solution filters out malicious traffic before it reaches customers' applications, reflecting the company's focus on security infrastructure.

The rapid growth in Blackwall's revenue has helped lift its valuation, with Prudentia Tallinn's Indrek Uudeküll noting that the company demonstrates the importance of considering a technology company's product, sales channel, and economic value for customers. Estonia's overall tech sector saw a slight decline in valuation, with the combined value of the 30 most valuable companies falling from €27.7 billion to €26.4 billion.

Blackwall's growth in value is bolstered by the high valuations of comparable cybersecurity companies in its peer group, which supports the higher valuation. The defense technology sector is the largest by number of companies in this year's TopTech ranking, with seven companies valued at a combined €1.07 billion.
