(Asiad) S. Korea finishes 4th in men's compound archery team event

South Korea secured fourth place in the men's compound archery team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday. The team, comprising Choi Yong-hee, Choi Eun-gyu, and Kim Jong-ho, fell short by one point against the Chinese Taipei team. The match concluded with both teams scoring 59 in the final end, resulting in Chinese Taipei winning the gold by a single point.

Earlier in the day, South Korea had claimed bronze in the women's team and silver in the mixed team events. Throughout the team competition, each archer fires two arrows per end, with a maximum possible score of 240 points after four ends. Compound archery is played at 50 meters, which is closer than the 70-meter distance for recurve archery.

The sport is known for high-performing perfect scores, which are common among skilled archers. South Korea's defeat came after they lost to India in the semifinals, with India ultimately taking the gold medal in the men's team event.
