Apple Music finally lands in four countries 11 years after launch

Apple Music for Android is set to receive a significant redesign in the latest 7.0 beta, inspired by the Liquid Glass design language first introduced on iOS platforms. This new look is making its way to Android devices, offering users a fresh visual experience.

One of the key features in this redesign is the introduction of a floating bottom bar. This bar displays what is located above, below, and to the sides of the current screen, providing users with easy access to various elements. The navigation element within this bar has a subtle translucency that allows the solid colors underneath to be clearly visible. This is similar to the treatment seen on the mini-player above the bottom bar, which is no longer docked with the bottom bar.

The transition from Liquid Glass on iOS to the new design on Android is notable in several ways. Unlike on iOS, where the bottom bar collapses into a more compact version when scrolling, the Android version keeps everything in its original position. Additionally, top bars across the app have been updated, with the page title and overflow menu now appearing on the same line. The three-dot icons, previously themed in red, have been moved into circular containers for a more modern look.

A major update can be found in the Library tab, where “Edit Pins” and “Edit Categories” have been added to the overflow menu. Artist pages have also undergone a significant transformation, with the background now themed based on the cover image. This change closely mirrors the iOS design, featuring a more prominent play button and an information page that is no longer at the very bottom.

The Share feature has also been relocated to the top-right corner, enhancing the app's overall layout. The Settings page has been modernized with improved grouping, making navigation more intuitive. However, the Now Playing section remains largely unchanged, with no significant updates from the iOS version.

In terms of aesthetics, Apple Music 7.0 for Android now features an edge-to-edge design for both the status and navigation bars. This design aligns Apple Music's Android version with iOS 27, which uses a similar versioning system. The beta version of Apple Music 7.0 is currently in testing, typically lasting a few weeks. Users can sign up for the beta through the Play Store listing or via a dedicated page. These beta builds are generally stable, making them suitable for testing purposes.
