Ajman begins regulating bachelor and shared accommodation in five areas

Ajman has initiated a pilot phase to regulate bachelor and shared accommodation in residential buildings, as part of the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department's efforts to improve building usage, ensure a safe living environment, and enhance urban planning. The new initiative will be implemented in five areas: Al Nuaimiya, Al Rashidiya, Al Nakheel, Liwara, and Al Rumaila.

Mohammed Abdulwahab Mustafa, director of the Municipal Control and Inspection Department, explained that the pilot aims to tackle the challenges posed by bachelor and shared accommodation by establishing clear regulations governing residential occupancy. This approach seeks to strike a balance between the needs of different societal groups and urban planning requirements.

A workshop was held to acquaint real estate companies with the new policy on bachelor and shared accommodation. The session detailed the initiative's objectives, priorities, and the Department's approved requirements and conditions for allowing bachelors to reside in buildings. Participants also learned about shared accommodation and its implementation.

During the workshop, the challenges associated with bachelor accommodation were discussed, alongside the solutions developed by the Department to better regulate residential accommodation, ensure compliance with standards, and enhance the urban and residential environment. Real estate companies participating in the workshop were briefed on the application process and how to benefit from the new online service.

The Department hopes participants will become familiar with the new requirements and utilize the online platform to submit applications for bachelor and shared accommodation. The pilot phase will be evaluated before deciding to expand or further develop the initiative.
