4 wild moments from Trump’s AI safety lunch with tech leaders

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump hosted a White House lunch with a select group of tech leaders, including Elon Musk, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. The gathering aimed to discuss the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and ensure its safety. Following the meeting, Trump announced a voluntary safety accord and a new official term for AI in government.

The accord, described as a "constitution" for the industry, called for companies to implement internal safety measures, undergo external audits, and submit reports for review by an independent board. However, critics quickly pointed out a spelling error in the document, which mistakenly referred to the United States as "Unites States".

Trump later described the accord as "morally binding," and noted that companies would engage in "tremendous self-policing" and consider forming a committee of around ten individuals to oversee the process. During the post-lunch press conference, Trump praised Amodei and instructed him to be careful, while also jokingly telling Zuckerberg, "Whatever he says is OK."

The event also saw Musk momentarily stumble over the new term "Super Intelligence," quickly correcting himself to say "AI".
