Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports reach US$7.4 billion in first 9 months

Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports surged to nearly US$7.4 billion in the first nine months of 2026, marking a 19.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association. The Chinese market remains the top importer, followed by the United States, South Korea, Japan, and the European Union.

This growth indicates Vietnam's fruit and vegetable industry is establishing itself as a dependable partner, complying with the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) regulations of the EU. Vietnamese exports are gaining ground due to a surge in processed goods. Deputy Secretary-General Nguyen Van Muoi predicts continued growth in fruit and vegetable exports in the final months of the year, fueled by supply advantages and market demand.

During September and October, Vietnam stands as the exclusive supplier of fresh durian to China, as other nations have little to no durian harvest at that time. November and December are anticipated to see a rise in demand for holiday and New Year goods in China, Northeast Asia, European nations, and North America. Vietnam's supply of export fruits and vegetables remains plentiful, including popular items like fresh coconut, passion fruit, grapefruit, and processed fruit and vegetable products, which will help maintain export levels even after the peak durian harvest season in the Central Highlands region concludes.
