US anti-terror partnership with Nigeria not open-ended support — American firm

An American policy advisory and lobbying firm has clarified that the United States' anti-terror partnership with Nigeria is not indefinite support. The firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, made this point in a recent post on its verified X account. The company praised the Trump administration for providing Nigeria with the necessary weapons to combat insecurity.

"This is a good development and points to the Trump administration’s strong desire to counter terrorism in Nigeria," the firm stated. "Unlike previous administrations, the United States is selling Nigeria the weapons it needs to take the fight to the terrorists who threaten both U.S. and Nigerian interests."

However, the firm emphasized that shared interests in fighting terrorism in Nigeria do not necessarily imply US support for the Nigerian government in all matters. The statement was made in response to a question about President Bola Tinubu's alleged involvement in heroin trafficking during the 1980s and 1990s.

The firm explicitly stated that the United States will "Not now-Not Ever" condone the Nigerian President's alleged role in the drug trade. The company also noted that their interests with Nigeria are aligned until they are not, drawing a parallel to Venezuela's situation.
