UM universiti pertama Malaysia tembusi kelompok 200 terbaik dunia

Universiti Malaya (UM) has made a significant leap, rising from positions 351-400 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings to now hold the esteemed 194th place in 2027. This marked improvement from the previous year, where UM was placed between 351 and 400, reflects the continuous progress in research, teaching, international networks, and industry collaborations.

With a total of 2,297 universities listed in this ranking, UM now stands at approximately 8.5% globally, maintaining its position as the highest-ranked Malaysian university. The Vice Chancellor of UM, Noor Azuan Abu Osman, emphasized that this achievement showcases the overall strength of the university community and highlights Malaysia's growing strength in global higher education.

He stated that surpassing the top 200 globally is not just a milestone, but a clear indication of our goals. "It shows UM moving with more confidence, a clearer and more relevant vision at the global level," he said in a statement. The THE World University Rankings assess universities on five key criteria: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry ties, and global perspectives.

According to UM, the top areas in the 2027 ranking are international outlook and research quality, which reflect the development of a global academic network and the impact of the university's research output. This success is further supported by UM's expanding international collaborations and its ability to attract scholars, researchers, and academics from around the world.

Azuan further noted that this achievement also brings responsibility for UM to further strengthen research, generate ideas benefiting society, and produce graduates ready to lead in their respective fields. He believes that international rankings should not be a mere goal, but translated into a greater contribution to the nation and the global community.
