Trump’s New AI Website Says Biden Won 2020 Election — Then Stops Answering

President Donald Trump launched a new AI-powered government website on Tuesday that contradicted his claim that Joe Biden had won the 2020 presidential election. When asked about the election outcome, America.gov initially stated that "Joseph R. Biden Jr. won the 2020 U.S. presidential election," citing the National Archives which recorded a 306-232 Electoral College vote victory for Biden over Trump.

However, the chatbot's response changed shortly after Trump's speech at the launch event, as reported by Variety. The website began refusing to answer the same question, presenting a contradiction for the administration's digital front door, which aims to provide government information and services using official sources. America.gov was designed to utilize official federal records, including those that refute Trump's claims of widespread fraud altering the 2020 election results.

In addition to altering its stance on the election, America.gov also started declining to answer questions about Trump's impeachment and felony convictions. The platform's capability to provide answers on these topics had previously contradicted Trump's positions. Moreover, America.gov began refusing to answer inquiries about whether Barack Obama's 2009 inauguration drew more spectators than Trump's inaugural in 2017, contradicting another long-standing point of contention.

The website, powered by Google's Gemini and xAI's Grok technology, was developed under the guidance of U.S. Chief Design Officer Joe Gebbia. Trump also signed an executive order on Tuesday, directing federal agencies to integrate their public-facing services with America.gov. The launch of the AI website coincides with the administration's efforts to accelerate AI development across the federal government.
