Tinubu eraps up France eorking vacation, heads to Lagos for meetings ahead of 2027

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Lagos from a working vacation in France, where he will meet with political leaders and associates ahead of the 2027 elections. The President departed Paris for Lagos on Tuesday, August 30, after spending a week in London as part of his working vacation. His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced that Tinubu's plane was expected to land at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos later that day.

The decision to start his journey in Lagos was linked to honoring the memory of late Chief MKO Abiola, who won the 1993 presidential election and was a key figure in Nigeria's democratic struggle. Tinubu plans to attend the October 1 premiere of a film commemorating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.

During his stay in Lagos, Tinubu is expected to hold several days of political consultations with various leaders and associates. The Presidency confirmed that the President will meet with political leaders and associates to prepare for the 2027 elections. In France, Tinubu had a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and met with prominent figures in the business sector, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group and businessman Femi Otedola, Chairman of First Holdings.

Bolloré's business interests span media, digital sectors, and Universal Music Group, while Otedola is the Chairman of First Holdings.
