Stop attacks on Nigerians now – Fani-Kayode warns South Africa

The Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode, has issued a stern warning against the killing of Nigerians within the country's borders. In a recent post on his social media platform, Fani-Kayode called upon the South African government to ensure justice is served for the perpetrators of xenophobic attacks on Nigerians. This plea comes in the wake of three Nigerian citizens being murdered in South Africa within a span of four days in September alone.

Former Minister of Aviation, Fani-Kayode, expressed his sorrow over the recent killings, offering prayers for the departed souls to find peace. He disclosed that three more Nigerians were murdered in separate incidents between the 18th and 21st of September, bringing the total number of Nigerian victims to 12 this year. Furthermore, Fani-Kayode noted that 112 Nigerians had been killed in South Africa since the beginning of 2022, with 32 of these victims falling prey to members of the South African security forces.

Despite the alarming statistics, Fani-Kayode lamented that no one has been held accountable or convicted for these heinous crimes. He reiterated his request for the South African authorities to take immediate action in bringing those responsible to justice and to protect Nigerian lives within their borders.
