Security forces kill 5 terrorists in KP IBO, 2 eliminated in Balochistan's Chagai: security sources

Security forces conducted targeted operations in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, resulting in the deaths of five terrorists and two more, respectively, security sources reported. The weapons and ammunition caches recovered from the deceased terrorists belonged to the banned terrorist group Fitna al Khawarij, which the state identifies as the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. As a consequence of the operations, Fitna al Khawarij hideouts were completely destroyed, according to security sources.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his commendation for the security forces' successful operations in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan via Radio Pakistan, highlighting their professional capabilities, courage, and bravery. He assured the nation of the government's commitment to the complete eradication of terrorism from the country and pledged to continue operations until this goal is achieved.

The operations in question follow a recent incident two days earlier, in which more than 71 terrorists were killed in Shaban and other areas of Balochistan. On September 20, two officers and four others were killed in a firefight with terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Hangu district. On September 17, security forces eliminated ten terrorists during separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between September 15 and 17.

Earlier in the month, over 20 terrorists were killed during multiple engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between September 3 and 5. According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies' monthly data, at least 378 people were killed in terrorist attacks during August, with 203 terrorists eliminated by security forces and 54 security personnel martyred, a decrease compared to July. Balochistan remains the most affected province, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
