Samsung Celebrates Jensen Huang’s Van Fleet Award in Times Square

Samsung Electronics has enthusiastically celebrated Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's receipt of the '2026 Van Fleet Award' with a video displayed on a large billboard in Times Square, New York. The award, established by The Korea Society, recognizes individuals or organizations that promote friendship and cooperation between South Korea and the United States.

Huang was selected for the award in recognition of his contributions to innovation in AI and accelerated computing fields, as well as expanding AI and semiconductor industry cooperation between South Korea and the United States. This celebration is connected to the strong relationship between the two sides, as Huang has a long-standing relationship with Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong and has hosted a 'gganbu gathering' in Seoul with him.

The relationship between Samsung Electronics and Nvidia has grown significantly in recent years, with cooperation in memory and system semiconductors, and plans for an 'AI Factory' that combines Nvidia's accelerated computing and digital twin technologies with Samsung's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. The Van Fleet Award has historical significance for Samsung, as the late Chairman Lee received the same award in 2006 for contributions to South Korea-US economic cooperation and bilateral relations.
