'Abu Dhabi is different, Abu Dhabi is the difference,' says energy department chairman

Abu Dhabi, the emirate, has opened its doors to The Liveability and Investment Exhibition (LIVEX 2026), positioning itself as one of the world's most liveable and lovable cities, according to Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, Abu Dhabi. In his keynote speech, Al Shorafa expressed the ambition to make Abu Dhabi the world's most liveable and lovable destination.

Dr. Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Department of Energy, highlighted that the people of the UAE are united by a common vision: to give back to their city. He explained that even highly capable professionals often choose government service over the private sector to serve their community. Al Jarwan emphasized that success should be measured by the positive impact it has on people's lives, rather than the tangible structures built.

The chairman also stressed that the government is responsible for setting enabling regulations and policy standards for a city that grows rapidly and adapts to a changing world. Abu Dhabi's commitment to building a legacy while positively influencing people's lives comes through tangible public projects like museums and schools, reflecting both UAE culture and embracing the world's culture in return.

Dr. Al Jarwan and Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi, stressed that social cohesion is maintained by prohibiting bigotry, racism, or religious intolerance. They view liveability and investment as interconnected concepts rather than separate entities. According to them, people come to Abu Dhabi because it offers the universal values of security, education, healthcare, and culture, which are sought after by individuals worldwide.

They also emphasized that the city is a result of continuous learning from various parts of the world, fostering an environment of ideas, creativity, and intellectual thought.

The officials highlighted that Abu Dhabi follows a singular urban plan coordinated by the municipality and various stakeholders. Their focus is on continuous implementation of an evolving strategy, achieved through listening to the voices of the people. Mubarak further explained that safety in the city is a collective responsibility, likening the government to a family that looks out for each other, similar to how one would protect their own daughters.

He assured the audience that despite regional conflicts, everyone remained calm and confident, as they trusted the responsible authorities to carry out their duties. During these challenging times, people continued their daily routines, such as going to work and children playing in parks, ensuring safety and security for all.
